Yesterday I hit a bird on the highway. Today I found this guy in the backyard. He can’t fly, so he’s pretty much stuck in the backyard. I let the dogs out and we all saw the bird at the same time. The dogs took off after him, but I was able to call them off just as they were closing in on him. The bird was running away from the dogs but got stuck at the fence. He let me get close enough to take some pictures with my Nexus One. I tried to feed him some sunflower seeds but he wouldn’t eat them.

I’ve gone back to check on him a few times. He’s working his way along the fence line. I shot about 30 seconds of video from my phone, which I’ll try to post later or tomorrow.

I guess this is one of those things you’d understand if it applied to you. This was in the stairwell.
