Speaking of Terms of Service, another thing you’re likely to agree with at least a few times a month is a little clause explaining that you’re about to use a product that might not work, because it’s in beta. In fact, using it might cause disastrous results, which will be entirely your fault for using software/services in beta.
Gmail was in beta for what, 5 or 6 years? Email is 40 years old!
When did this whole beta thing start, anyway? I’ve never heard of a car in beta. Sure there are prototypes, but there aren’t millions of people driving around in beta version Chevys, are there? The whole beta thing started as a good idea, but now it’s being abused. Expect to see the beta label on more and more things as companies catch on to the shield it provides from liability.
